Forces

In Science we are looking at forces. On the blog please explain how you would find out who in your class has the shoe with the best grip.

How could you find out?

How could you measure?

  1. Measuring:
you could measure your shoes with force- meter or stay on a slope (a deep snowy one so if you slide that not the best shoes).

Record the surface and the force in your data table. Always try to pull the shoe at the same speed. Use your data to calculate mu which is the coefficient of friction by using this equation: mu= force to pull shoe/ weight of the shoe.(mu=fiction).

  2. i would test the shoes by keeping each pair on the playground, then slope for 5 minutes and check the shoes and the one in good condition is the best shoe.

  3. You can make people scrape one of their feet. Then you can record their score. Recording their score is the measurement.

  4. Equipment
    • Chalk
    • Surface to keep your shoe
    • 6 pairs of shoes [or more]
    • Force meter
    • A sheet of paper

    How could you find out?

    1. You would first need a surface and a shoe, the surface could be on the playground.
2.Then you would need to take the force meter and slightly pull
    it.

    How could you measure?

    1. As you pull it along, you should write down how many newtons it is.
2.Repeat the same for every other shoe.

  5. To test who's shoes have the best grip you could create a very smooth sloped surface and make both people stand on it and time who stays on for longer without moving.

  6. You could use a thick flat space like snow or grass then scrape the shoe for a couple of minutes. Record the score and then it will show how it has the best grip.

  7. 1.Make a person rub one of their shoes on the floor.

2.Then accomplish their chronicle , registering their chronicle is the metrology.

  9. I think my shoes have more grip as it has a nice and comfy sole, so I can run faster and it is water proof. Also it is so durable and it doesn't make the squeak noise and plus you wont slip because it is hard at the bottom.

  10. You could make people run for 5-10 minutes and then see whos shoe is the most broken and the shoe with the least holes and scrathes have the best grip.

  11. The shoe with the best grip has to have deep treads in as many places as possible, especially in the middle. It might also help the bigger the shoe is. Try the shoes on the same surface and then look at the bottom.

  12. To find out whose shoe has the best grip you need to do a test. You will need ...
    ● a force meter
    ● 5 or 6 shoes (you could add more)
    ● a surface to test it on (always keep it the same)
    ● a piece of paper to record the results (and a pen/pencil)

You will have to start by connecting the force meter to the first shoe. Then gently start dragging the shoe across the surface and it will give you the answer in newtons. Repeat this with all the shoes and the one with the most newtons is the shoe with the best grip.

  13. 1.you measure it with a measure (forgot name)you then drag it across any surface and see what has the most

2.then gather all the result check what has the most an the one with the least

  14. To measure you will need a person to move the a meter with a forcemeter and you can do it with every other shoe's.after youneed to write a table saying the results and read the biggest newton or friction!
